Dimitri Torner
President
He was elected president of the Biathlon Federation of the Republic of Moldova in January 2021.
After being elected to office, he initiated a project to rebuild a biathlon track in the capital of Moldova, Chisinau. The value of the investment, according to preliminary estimates, is 3 million US dollars.
A year after Dmitri Torner became president of the Biathlon Federation of Moldova, Moldovan athletes have significantly improved their results. At the European Championships in Germany, biathlete Alina Stremous won a silver medal in the 15 km individual event and a gold medal in the pursuit race. Thanks to this fact, the Republic of Moldova occupied the third place in the ranking for medals of the European Championship.
The performances of the Moldovan biathletes in the IBU World Cup and the European Championship in the 2021/2022 season allowed them to qualify for the XXIV edition of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
